Samantha White
Samantha White is founding artistic and executive director of Shakespeare in Detroit, a site-specific theater company that performs in the places where people live, work and play.
Creating the template for the program in 2012 (after several years as an actor and theater patron), she used her decade of experience as a journalist to create awareness in the community, resulting in an audience of 500+ for the company’s debut performance at Grand Circus Park. To date, the company has engaged with more than 3,000 residents, neighbors and supporters and is now in its second season.
Recently, Sam was named one of Crain’s Detroit’s 40 Under 40, which honors the community’s high achievers. She gave a passionate talk at the 2014 TEDxDetroit conference at the Detroit Opera House, and is producing ‘King Lear’ as an artist in residence at Marygrove College in Detroit.
