Francesca Cavallo
Francesca Cavallo was born in Taranto, Italy. Following her graduation (with high honors) from the University of Milan, she earned an MFA in Stage Directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art ‘Paolo Grassi’, and went on to found her own theater company, touring Italy, Germany and Switzerland with her award-winning plays.
In 2012, she moved to California with her partner Elena Favilli to co-found Timbuktu Labs, Inc., a children’s media startup, where she serves as creative director.
At Timbuktu, she has authored seven picture books that have been translated into more than 15 languages. Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, co-authored with Elena Favilli, is her first international best seller and the most crowdfunded book in history.
