Corrine Hunt / Komoyue
Corrine Hunt was born on a reservation in Yalis, British Columbia, where, despite a Canadian government ban that lasted for more than half a century, her grandparents continued to practice their traditional ceremonial songs and dances.
During 35 years in the design field, her work has ranged from jewelry and furniture to the 2010 Vancouver Olympic medals, always attempting to reflect the depth of her First Nations heritage, her sense of living in a vibrant culture, and her own travels and experiences.
