Matthew Hoffman
Matthew Hoffman thinks you are beautiful.
A Chicago-based artist and designer whose work has been exhibited internationally, Matthew often works with oversized, bold phrases in the public sphere, frequently making use of subtle, positive messages that are open to interpretation and intended to interact with the viewer on a personal level.
The Custodian of ‘You Are Beautiful’, the little sticker that started a worldwide phenomenon, Matthew’s ideas and work have been included in Good, the New York Times Magazine, and Ready Made, and he has been published in books by Gestalten, Droog, and Taschen, and was featured in a segment on the Oprah network.
His ‘You Are Beautiful’ message, spread by the community, has touched lives on every continent in the world, including Antarctica. What began simply with 100 stickers printed in 2002 in Chicago has evolved into block-long murals, public installations and exhibitions at cultural institutions involving thousands of artists. ‘You Are Beautiful’ has been translated into over 81 languages, with over 2 million stickers circulating around the globe. What happens with the next million is up to you. Grab a handful of stickers, and share the message with your world.
